Hi! I’m Roone Ruanaidh, a technology architect based in Montana.

I implement technical governance to safely deploy solutions in regulated environments, and received a Governor’s Award for Individual Excellence in Performance in 2024.

I have worked at the State of Montana for the last four years. In my current role I work alongside the State Chief AI Officer to enable safe use of state data with AI models, foster AI literacy across the enterprise, and build cross-sector relationships to strengthen statewide AI readiness.

In prior roles I led an enterprise technical architecture group that set enterprise security priorities across identity, devices, networks, applications, and data; built a unified platform data model to connect enterprise biennial strategic planning to daily IT service operations; and managed a small business digital transformation.

Currently, I am researching and prototyping the enforcement layers that systems need to make AI agents safe and effective regardless of the model provider. Specifically: OS sandboxing, runtime permissions, deterministic toolkits, spec-driven development, automated spec enforcement, distributed trust mechanisms, and cross-model adversarial reviews.

Outside of work I spend time on my other passions of cooking for my friends and family, writing poetry, playing blues guitar, or being in nature. My dog Athena and cats Opal and Zooey also help keep me active and grounded.
